About CM

Welcome to Crossmosis, and thank you for stopping by. I know there’s a jillion different ways you could have found this site, and I hope that you’ll find something here that will help you to–as I’m constantly striving to do–grow, nurture, and “live out” your faith in every aspect of your life.

A smidge about me

Well, my name is Matt. I’m a Christian first, and secondly a husband, daddy, son, brother, friend, and co-worker. I live in St. Louis, and am a sales trainer in the financial investments industry. I’ve been married to an amazing woman, my Beloved Wifey, for 10 years, and we have two amazing little children in our lives–a son who is 7, and a 3 year old daughter.

My life has been changed time and time again (and again, and again…) by God–sometimes willingly, but most times my pride and stubbornness serve as a roadblock. Like you, ‘my’ world has been taken apart numerous times from childhood all the way to this very moment.

Tired of being The Wanderer?

It’s a fallen world, alright, and I’ve done my share of falling.

But the amazing thing of it is–and it IS amazing–that looking back, the ’cause’ always was wandering from God. And as I look at the situations of other people in my life, and the struggles they’ve endured, it also seems to be true for them that they’ve become Wanderers. Coincidentally (tongue in cheek), as I look back at the times in life of my greatest contentment, focus, and peace, it has been when Christ has been at the absolute center of it all, when I have redirected my life toward total committment to Christ.

The “Point” of Crossmosis

Recently, as part of a small group at my church we began reading a book called Chazown: A Different Way to See Your Life. This is a book challenged me on many fronts, not the least of which was to put thought into what God has in mind for me. Nope—sorry—what God created me to do. If you’re someone who struggles with the “What is my purpose in life?” question, then I’d highly recommend that you pick this book up. It took me on a journey, of sorts, to reflect on my core values (the things most important to me), my passion and dreams (the things I love to do), and my spiritual gifts (the things that God created me to be “good at”)…and when you step back to take a look at these three things together, you’ll see a few “purposes” jumping off the paper at you. One of mine was to create this website.

And so, dearest site visitor, I’m writing to tell you that enough is enough. While I understand there will be days of great tests and frustration, I am declaring my days as a Wanderer over. There will be many tests along the way, and I will never be perfect, but this site will serve as a testimony to my full-blown commitment to make Jesus Christ the epicenter of every inch of my life—my marriage, my fatherhood, my finances, my relationships, my career, all of it. So help me God!

Where did the word “Crossmosis” come from?

The name comes from a combination of the words “cross” and “osmosis.” The cross to me means many things; grace, power, love, sin, salvation, suffering, forgiveness, eternity, redemption, and Christ being just a few. Osmosis, as you’ll remember from 8th grade biology, is technically defined as the “diffusion of molecules through a semipermeable membrane from a place of higher concentration to a place of lower concentration.” So combining the two would lead me to define Crossmosis as my personal journey to surround myself daily with the cross and all that glorifies its meaning, and in doing so, become the man that I was created to be for my Creator, my wife, my children, my friends, and myself.

Since the building began of Crossmosis in early 2010, I’ve also been told that Crossmosis could be a mix of the words “cross” and “metamorphosis.” I only wish I was smart enough to see that semblance early on as that’s an even better one to explain.

The Crossmosis Mission

  • Grow my faith daily and share the power of the cross to transform each of us–and every facet of our lives–and for that power to transform the lives around us. Just as it says in Colossians 3:17…“And in whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
  • Build a site full of content that addresses common issues and struggles in society today, and not only offer up Biblically-sound advice to address them, but also enable site visitors to participate in the dissemination of their advice and opinions as well–just as Proverbs 24:3-7 says, “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is full of strength, and a man of knowledge enhances his might, for by wise guidance you can wage your war, and in abundance of counselors there is victory. Wisdom is too high for a fool; in the gate he does not open his mouth.”
  • Develop a community of Christians that can encourage each other with wisdom and knowledge gained through life experience and tribulations, so that we might all be encouraged by the promise of I Thessalonians 5:11…”Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
