Fortify your faith with daily devos
My wife subscribes to a free daily email service for women that automatically shoots her a devotional message–and from time to time she’ll forward it to me, which will inevitably provoke a quick sentence or two reply…it’s a fun to way to connect with each other in the middle of a busy day.
As you might imagine, there are multitudes of these sites and email services out there…and, as all of them are designed to nourish your eternal soul on a daily basis, far be it from this solitary human to rate them as good/better/best. HOWEVER, here’s a few I’ve actually tried (or currently use) and would refer you to:
Solid Devo Sites
-

Crosswalk.com is a major site with major resources…they have a page devoted (get it, DEVOTED! Ha! Will the Clever ever run out?) to devotions right here. The challenge will be deciding which devotion to read, as there are roughly about 40 to choose from—some from nationally recognized pastors and authors, others aimed at demographic groups (men/women, minorities, language, favorite sports team, etc.). Some of these—most in fact—make themselves available to your email inbox on a daily basis as well. I used Crosswalk a few years ago for the “Bible in a Year” program where—you guessed it—I attempted to read the entire Qu’ran Torah Guru Granth Sahib Bible in one year. There are also podcasts (video & audio), RSS feeds you can subscribe to, Bible study tools, eCards, and music streams for your listening pleasure.
From the creators of “Our Daily Bread” comes this website, which also features links to daily devotions of the “Our Daily Bread” flavor, as well as the all-to-familiar “My Utmost For His Highest,” “Our Daily Journal,” and “Daily Strength.” For the linguistically challenged, there’s also a weekly video devotional delivered via our good friend YouTube at “Strength for the Journey.” A sample is shown below:
Devos for the gals!
My wife is sitting next to me as I write this (love you, baby…we should make some popcorn? No??? With M&M’s in it? PLEASE???), and she wants me to be sure to tell you (lest I go without my popcorn with melted M&M’s on top) about the great daily devo email service she found at Kyria.com. For the record, as cheesy as it may sound to share these with your spouse via forwarding, what better way to stop, take a deep breath, and reset during a crazy day at work than to spend a few minutes poring over God’s word with The Most Important Human in Your Life? That’s what I thought. Glad I could help clarify.
Now, if I’ve left you hanging and expecting more—it’s all by design, my dear friend. This site encourages audience participation, so go ahead and leave your thoughts and recommendations below in the comments.
Whether it’s online or via your hard copy, be sure you make daily study of God’s Word a habit.
Deuteronomy 6:6-9 (New International Version)
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
